English Words about Fall Season
I like autumn / fall season in Japan very much. I am going to tell you three reasons. First, I like to see the colors of Japanese maple trees and gingko leaves. They look beautiful. Second, Japanese autumn food are delicious. For example, there are persimmons, sweet potatoes, and Pacific saury. They are all good but I like chestnuts the best. Lastly, hot springs in Japan are amazing and I think that autumn is the best season to visit one. I feel relaxed when I go to a hot spring. How about you? Do you enjoy hot springs too?
Now, I am going to teach you some English words about autumn. Are you ready? Here we go.
1. Autumn / Fall (秋)
Autumn or fall season in Japan starts around mid-September until
November. I like autumn very much. Do you like autumn too?
2. Japanese Maple Trees (紅葉)
Japanese maple trees usually have five colors: green, red, yellow, orange,
and brown. I think that they all look amazing.
3. Gingko Leaves (イチョウの葉)
Unlike Japanese maple trees, gingko leaves usually have two colors: green
and yellow. Which do you like better, Japanese maple trees or gingko leaves?
Now, let’s learn about different autumn food. Japanese autumn food are
delicious. Do you want to try them? I am very excited to eat them soon.
You must try pumpkin pudding and pumpkin soup. They are very tasty.
5. Persimmon (柿)
I like persimmons which are sweet and juicy. You can also try dried persimmons. I heard that they are very good too.
6. Chestnut (栗)
My favorite autumn food is chestnut. Have you ever eaten chestnut rice?
It is very delicious. Many Japanese people think that the English word for
栗is marron (マロン). But please remember that it is chestnut.
7. Sweet Potato (さつまいも)
Did you know that October 13th is ‘Sweet Potato Day’ in Japan? Let’s eat
more of this sweet and healthy vegetable. Okay?
8. Pacific Saury (さんま)
During autumn, you can buy Pacific saury in your local supermarkets. I like
them grilled. They are very tasty and they are good for your health too.
Have you ever seen red dragonfly during autumn? How about hot springs?
Have you ever visited a Japanese hot spring (onsen) before? I think that they are very interesting.
9. Red Dragonfly (赤とんぼ)
If you like insects, you must see red dragonflies in autumn. You can sing the song 赤とんぼ while looking for one. It’s fun.
10. Hot Spring (温泉)
Lastly, Japan is very famous for its hot springs. In Tochigi, you can visit Kinugawa Onsen, Yunishigawa Onsen, and Nikko. Hot springs are good for your body. If you have a chance, please visit a hot spring soon.
